After a gap of one day the discourses on Vedanta Saar started again today morning. Today Poojya Guruji explained about the importance of the study of Anubandha Chatushtaya and began explaing the Adhikari.

Sw Samatanandaji leaves for UK

P. Swamini Samatanandaji left for a two months tour of the UK on the morning of 30th May from Indore. Poojya Guruji and P. Swamini Amitanandaji saw her off at the Indore Airport.

Vedanta Saar -Talk 2

Today the pravachan was on the first two mangalacharan shlokas of the text. In the first shloka the author reverentially brings to his mind the timeless truth - the Brahman, and in the second he does pranams to his teacher Sri Advayanandaji.

Vedanta Saar -Talk 1

Discourses on a new Vedanta text, the Vedanta Saar, started today, after the return of Poojya Guruji after the Gita Gyana Yagna at Mumbai. This is a fundamental text book of Vedanta written by Sri Sadananda. Today on 27th May 2008, was an introduction of vedanta and this text.

Gita Gyana Yagna - Mumbai

A Gita Gyana Yagna by Poojya Guruji Swami Atmanandaji was organized at National College Auditorium, Bandra, Mumbai, from 21st to 26th May 2008. The subject matter of this five days Gyana Yagna were, Gita Chapter 15 and Mundaka Upanishad 2-1.

The program was overall very satisfying and successful.



Before and after the Gita pravachan everyone did the sankirtan of 'Govind Jai Jai'. Here is a small clip of the devoted singing.

Ashram Update

Ashram Classes:
After the conclusion of Advaita Makaranda discourses, the next text will be taken after the Gita Gyana Yagna of Poojya Guruji at Mumbai. The next text will be Vedanta Saar of Sadanandaji. This is a very respected and fundamental text giving us an overview of the basic principles of Vedanta. As earlier we plan to upload these discourses too on the net and our blog. Poojya Guruji leaves for Mumbai on the morning of 21st May and will return on 26th night, as such the discourses on the new text will start from 27th May.

In the meantime Poojya Swamini Amitanandaji will conduct classes on a select Sankara Bhashya of the 13th chapter of Bhagwad Gita.

Grapes Creeper:
We had planted a creeper of Grapes in front of Gangeshwar Mahadev temple. The Mandap is now becoming green and to the joy of everyone the first bunch of grapes were sighted. The first flower and fruit of a tree which we lovingly plant and serve is always a matter of greatest joy.

Web Site Issues:
Our new Indian domain (.in) the vmission.org.in web site is running nicely, while the old domain vmission.org is still facing some technical problems, and is down. They strangely call it 'suspended'. Hope the web hosts handle their affairs properly and our suspension is revoked soon :).

Talk: Advaita Makaranda _ 1605_Conclusion

Today was the Concluding Session of Advaita Makaranda discourses. Talking on the last two shlokas, 27 & 28th Poojya Guruji said that the author says that every shloka of this text is like a lotus flower, and every seeker is like a bee. They need to not only go near these flowers but aim to dive deep into them to get the nectar out of each of these flowers, and that is why he has kept the name of the text as Advaita Makaranda, the nectar of Advaita.

Talk: Advaita Makaranda _ 1505

Todays discourse was on shlokas numbers 25 and 26. Poojya Guruji told that the basic purport of vedanta is only in the revelation of the identity of the Self with Brahman, or in other words to reveal the oneness, infinitude and non-duality of Self.

Talk: Advaita Makaranda _ 1405

After few days of break, the recording of Advaita Makaranda started once again today. In todays discourse P.Guruji talked about Atma being of the nature of Ananda. He started with shloka 24 and then went on to the 25th shloka where it was said that the Sat-Chit-Ananda need to be seen as the nature of one entity alone.

Sankaracharya Jayanti Programs - Evening

The evening program was still more enjoyable and enlightening. After the evening aarti, the devotees gathered for a 3 hours program of dramas, discourses and other snippits. The childen presented a dance and then a drama on the life of Sri Adi Sankaracharya. Thereafter all the Mahatmas of the ashram gave short discourses on the life & teachings of the great Acharya. Sankaracharya Jayanti - Day Programs

Today on 10th May 2008, was the Jayanti of Sri Jagadguru Sri Adi Sankaracharya. There were special programs for the occasion at Vedanta Ashram, where not only the teachings of Bhagwan Sri Sankara are regularly imparted, but the ashram even has a small temple of the Acharya. From Vedanta Ashram a Shobha Yatra of various devotees was taken out till the Sankaracharya Gate, where apart from special Puja, there was a short discourse of Poojya Guruji. More than hundred devotees were present. The Album of the occasion:



Apart from this morning program, we will be also having special programs in the evening. Separate report and album of that program will be published. later in the night.

There was another break yesterday. Today Poojya Guruji continued with the discourse on the 22nd shloka. He revealed few more subtle points ragarding the fact that 'Sat' is my swaroop and not my guna.

Talk: Advaita Makaranda _ 0705

Todays discourse started immediately with the chanting of the next shloka (22nd). This shloka deals with a subtle point about the nature of Atma. The nature of Atma is said to be Sat-Chit-Ananda. Here the teacher says that please keep in mind that Sat is the swaroop of Atma and not its guna. This shloka deals with Sat, while the next two deal with Chit and Ananda. To know as to what exactly does this imply please hear the lecture carefully.

After a gap of about ten days the discourses on Advaita Makaranda started once again. As informed earlier Poojya Guruji was out of station for GGY at Ahmedabad.

In todays discourse Poojya Guruji talked about the possibility that these lectures may become yet another routine stuff and a ritual of coming over and listening. In order to negate such a possibility one needs to be alert about the sattwikta of the mind. A sattwic mind alone is the right mind to appreciate and assimilate the teachings of vedanta.
