Birthday Celebrtions of Sw.Amitanandaji

On 8th Aug, the birthday of Poojya Swamini Amitanandaji, an elaborate Rudrabhisheka was done by her at the Gangeshwar Mahadev Mandir at Vedanta Ashram.

Later in the evening the ashram inmates and devotees organized a get-together. Various devotees brought various eatable things, there were bhajans, Poojya Guruji's blessings and finally the lovely dinner.

Poojya Guruji in his talk said that when we celebrate such occasions, then one should remember that Atma has no birth, we have taken so many birth's and bodies earlier too. What is really 'born' is our unique body, and thus this specific individuality identified with it. Birthday's should be celebrated but with a clear understanding and belief that what we really celebrate is the getting of this most beautiful present, the 'human body'. Lets feel blessed and resolve to make the best of this ultimate present by God. Realization of the Self as God is the highest goal. Thank everyone who has been responsible for this human body, and then get going to achieve that which God wants us to.

Kena Upanishad Talks: Birth of Inquisitiveness (Jignyasa)

In his Kena Upanishad Talk on the 5th of Aug 2009, Poojya Guruji while continuing his discourses on the last mantra of the third chapter of the Upanishad, said that the response of Indra Devata at the time of his brush up is worth meditating. It reveals an extremely interesting state of mind, worth understanding and emulating. The response of Agni and Vayu devata's was of an ordinary level, where the ego was hurt and there was a natural tendency to escape such a situation. Here the response was mature and thus he immediately got blessed. Responses alone reveal the wisdom and character of man, and this is what the wise response should be of everyone. Every situation basically comes to wake us up, so whoever becomes inquisitive (Jignyasu) is a blessed one.

Kena Upanishad Talk: Response to Adversities

Poojya Guruji is continuing his discourses at Vedanta Ashram on Kena Upanishad. Presently the section under study is the end of third chapter. In this section, after Agni and Vayu failed and returned then the devatas requested their king, Indra, to go and find out who the Yaksha was?

Indra agreed and went towards the divine Yaksha, but knowing that Indra had all the more greater ego, the Yaksha doesnt even give audience to Indra and just disappears. This was an obvious shocker for Indra, because here was a king himself approaching someone, and the fellow doesnt even care to meet & talk to him. His ego was obviously and in fact deliberately hurt. So here was God himself deliberately hurting someone. Why do we get painful situations many times? and How do we look upon such situations, and What should be our response?
